Yin Qiao San is a good Chinese herb that can treat cold sores fast and effectively. This herb is known to disperse the wind and heat inside the body that causes cold sores. When it works, it clears out all the unbeneficial heat and toxins the body may nestle within. Normally, this herb is boiled in water and made into a tea. You have to drink the tea to reap its benefits.

Herbal Treatment for Cold Sores with Prunella Vulgaris

Prunella vulgaris is also known as Xia Ku Cao in China. Westerners know this herb as the self-heal spike in. This herb can be found not only in China but in places like North America, Europe, and Britain as well. The herb is usually made into a cream and is supposed to be applied topically on the affected area. Prunella vulgaris is tested in animals that were made to develop cold sores and it was effective for them. American microbiologists are currently considering this herb to be a good alternative to Acyclovir, which is the chief cold sore remedy today.

Natural Cure for Cold Sores with Bittersweet

Bittersweet is another herb that can prevent the spread and growth of cold sore blisters. This herb is usually made into an ointment. It is best used and applied during the day, right at the first signs of cold sores. There are also bittersweet herbs in oil form. These ones are more effective for wet cold sores.

About Cold Sores

Cold sores are very similar to herpes, a sexually transferred disease that is characterized by the eruption of blisters on the skin. While herpes normally develop on the genital area, cold sores are usually seen in the mouth or lip area. Cold sores are skin infections caused by the herpes simplex virus. Fortunately enough, there are a lot of Chinese medicines that can be used to treat them.
